Animal behaviour and welfare<\/span> <\/a> <\/span><\/h3>\n

Places: 25 state-funded places\/ 10 tuition fee places<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Description<\/strong>: The Animal Behavior and Welfare bachelor program has a duration of 4 years and it is offered in English. The ABW program combines theoretical knowledge with procedural ones, aiming to facilitate the understanding by our students of the ways animals behave in various contexts and to help them as future graduates to respond in an ethical and responsible ways to the challenges that animals face when living in captive and wild environment, and to prevent the negative human-animal interactions.\"\"<\/p>\n

The ABW undergraduate program is designed around a multi-disciplinary, research-driven approach to the study and teaching of animal behavior and welfare (companion, farm and wild animals), animal cognition and emotions, empowering the students with a solid foundation in animal biology, genetics, animal psychology, animal behavior, animal welfare, conservation biology and ecology. The practical activity is performed in the educational farms of the University, as well as in collaboration with entities and representatives of the community. The connection between learning experiences and the needs of the community is assured by the inclusion in the curricula of a Service-Learning course.<\/p>\n

The graduates of the ABW program will become engineers with competencies in animal behavior and welfare. Also, they are encouraged to continue their educational formation by joining our master\u2019s degree program in Ethology & Human-Animal Interaction or any other master\u2019s degree programs in the field.<\/p>\n
